Neozouk Dance 

NEOZOUK - NEW AND UNLIMITED : it's a VARIATION of zouk, THE NEW LANGUAGE that aims to show different trends in zouk , where the gentleman uses his lady as inspiration to conduct his dance exploring every articulation, to define each movement, the difference between conduct and respond is in the direction in which the movement occurs, because there is times when the lady induces the gentleman to a different path , continuing the movement, neozouk is the exact metric translation for the conversation between the body and music , where the gentleman and the lady communicate to each other through a connection body - feeling. Each body has its shape, therefore UNLIMITED, each dance has the same trait but with a different contour, that´s why NEW. 
WHAT IS NEOZOUK ? 
Neozouk is the set of technical , aesthetic , freedom and agility, Neozouk allows those who dance to keep their personality following a single concept , in one same direction. 

WHAT SAYS THE PHILOSOPHY OF NEOZOUK ? 
To allow yourself, of course, using the "tools" offered and already studied for a better utilisation of each dance, with more comfort and efficiency. In Neozouk we use the tools , counterweight , connections, body position and axes to lead the lady, and the lady uses these same elements for a more efficient and immediate response. The gentleman uses these elements from the lady and as the lady uses the gentleman and, vice versa, so the movement can exist.

A strong feature of Neozouk, is the freedom of creation and movement following the immediate response of the body. The gentleman who follows the philosophy of Neo, sees the lady as a new "computer program " to be opened, each lady for the gentleman is a possibility for a new creation, a new way to be followed, as each lady has a shape and a reaction different from the other, since the bodies and experiences are different from each other.The same movement, using the same connections and power, speed and agility with different ladies, provides the gentleman new and different ways of leading and connection points using the same line of movement.

 Taking once again the concept of unlimited, the lady sees the gentleman as a "GPS" which shows the path to be followed, and also suggesting new routes and paths to go. The lady of the Neo is "responsible" for the dance that she provides, for the lady who follows Neozouk philosophy, needs to be agile and sensitive, meaning, speed and accuracy of response, need to worry about the proper positioning of the body to which can always maintain the connection offered by the gentleman. As well the lady, each gentleman is different, which leads the lady to the subject attention, the lady must always be in touch and attentive to the gentleman. The neozouk lady , suggests possibilities to the gentleman, meaning, inspires the gentleman to lead her in a pleasant way, using her body positioning, making her, a versatile and dynamic lady, which also allows her to create, allowing yet to be sexy and charming.The Neozouk as well as other variations of zouk, has its root, its base in the traditional zouk, therefore we use the traditional movement to start the student who has never had contact with the dance, but always having the Neozouk vision as target. Leaving the student comfortable to learn in his time the natural basis of traditional zouk, but without leaving it "restrain into a square", always shows a world of possibilities to be achieved on time and speed of assimilation of each one.The neozouk was born IN 2006 from the experience of the creators, MAFIE ZOUKER and RUANITA SANTOS, experiences in contemporary, contact improvisation and counter- weight used in Neo tango and other kind of Brazilian Ballroom dances.

 MAFIE ZOUKER used even his knowledge in kung fu and, besides several studies in anatomy and experiences with several other ladies to get set in matters which he had already imagined. RUANITA SANTOS contributed with her experiences in various other styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, belly dance, Axe and funk and subsequently coming to aggregate the Stiletto Dance and Jazz Broadway.Together Mafie and Ruanita studied some techniques of hip hop and some experiments in movements that they created together from personal experiences of each other dances. However every new experience needs time and dedication. The creativity and musical experiences of Mafie Zouker added to the experiences of a long journey of dances from both of them and the Education of Ruanita, graduated in Physical Education, were important characteristics for the materialisation of the fertile imagination of Mafie Zouker into movement and dance.

MUSICALITY: 

The neozouk philosophy defines that music is part of that conversation between bodies, which is why the musicality is a point extensively explored by those who follow the philosophy of Neo.THE NEOZOUK PHILOSOPHY believes that musicality is to make music with every body movement; every musical construction is translated into movement, turning music into movement, and two bodies in one. In neozouk , we use the music as a whole, we use the "closed 8", which means that we use the count of eight times for execution of movements, thus making a more fluent and free dance, opening ways to be danced in several musical styles. In neo we use the lyrics of the song, that is, the rhythm of singing voice, sometimes different instruments, other beats, harmony and so on. The movement "never" stops.

 For the philosophy of unlimited be maintained, the Neozouk group is constantly study activity to bring ever new and more interesting ways to dance zouk, making it even more exciting and engaging.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN FEATURES OF NEOZOUK? 
***Leading based on multiple connections and axes, not limited to leading only with hands and arms.

The movements are unconventional, meaning not standard, they can be in line or circular, continuous or divided, the turns are counter weight or outside the straight axes which can provide movements with opposing forces.Working it in a lot of the spinning in "Pendulums", in high and low levels.
And a strong improvisation, based in the whole philosophy and concept that Neozouk offers! **

 

Later on the Neozouk also was influenced by Zoukflow, from the teacher and also the creator, Bruno Barreto, best known as Arkkanjo and his partner Diana Werneck. Bruno and Mafie exchanged lots of experiences and also dedicated several hours of study together to arrive in a new vision that came to add even more to the two "languages" by further opening the range of possibilities and study.
